An upscale vineyard combines a high-end restaurant, a tasting room and a specialty food and gift shop all within the working winerycreating a unique dining and shopping experience.
An upscale vineyard was looking for a new way to engage with its premier customers, with the ability to entice wine club members into the store and ensure they received first priority to experience new wines of the month. The winery wanted to offer a similar shopping experience to what occurs online, in order to entice customers and engage with them easily and often.
The winery used Zebra’s Zatar Internet of Things (IoT) platform, combining multiple technologies and devices such as beacons, RFID and digital displays to create a personalized shopping experience. An application running on an in-store display provides information on the selected wine, and then offers complimentary items with information delivered using a basic partner-developed Java script. This unique, scalable solution allows the winery to add new devices or technology by easily updating the API references on the application. Zebra Mpact beacons can detect proximity to the display screen which then prompts the user to interact and engage. With all of the data also going through the Zatar platform, data can be pushed to an analytics engine to drive big data intelligence and real time decisionmaking ability.
The solution highlights a flexible, dynamic way for retailers and partners to create an exciting customer experience using the Internet of Things. Zatar offers a simple way to build applications that does not require significant development or resources. Retailers can quickly get started to create better experiences for their customers, while helping to capture customer behavior in the store. Customer data is then used to provide insights and analytics into what customers are interested in, how they are engaging and how they make buying decisions.
